Sports Medicine
Sports Medicine Clinic
As at previous Arafura Games, a Sports Medicine Clinic will be established for all competitors. The clinic is available to treat sports related injuries only and is manned by experienced specialist sports medicine physicians and sports physiotherapists.
The clinic is centrally located in Arafura Central at the Marrara Sports precinct, close to many of the sport venues and within easy traveling distance from other sport venues on the Games transport routes.
The clinic is open from start of play until the completion of the last event each day.
Certified Sports Trainers (sports first aid) will be placed at all venues and will assess and manage minor injuries and then refer them directly to the Sports Medicine Clinic when necessary.
It is desired that visiting medical personnel work with their own athletes from the central clinic. This will facilitate arrangements for further treatment and for investigations such as x-rays or pathology tests.
This clinic will stock basic equipment and medicines and will have access to the prompt provision of further medication from local pharmacies.
