Golf Venue

Competition Venue:

The Arafura Golf competition will be held on the picturesque Darwin Golf Club. The 18 hole Championship Golf Course was designed for the tropics by Peter Thomson and Michael Wolveridge and is the premier golf course in the Territory. Located less than 15 minutes from the CBD, and a few short minutes from Arafura Central, the Darwin Golf Club offers a golfing experience unparalleled anywhere else in Australia. Although the course continues with a tree removal program, accuracy is demanded from the Tee, as many fairways are lined with trees and several holes are skirted by out of bounds on both sides. The Par 72 course measures 6069 metres for men and 5314 metres for women. The course record of 66 for men is held by Ken Anderson, a title he has held since 1981. Yun Jye Wei from Chinese Taipei scored the women’s course record of 70 during the 1997 Arafura Games.

Training Venue:

Practice will be available at the Darwin Golf Club on Monday 9 May. Times should be booked with the Darwin Golf Club Pro Shop. Driving range facilities and a practice putting green are also available. Please contact the Club on + 61 8 8927 1015 for more information.

Transport to Venue:

Athletes will be able to access free of charge transport to the venue via the Arafura Games Bus Service which will operate between accommodation houses and Games venues.
